Digital inequality is the disparities in knowledge and ability to use digital and information technology among individuals with different demographics, socioeconomic backgrounds, and digital and information technology experience and competencies (IGI Global).

The Pew Research Center found that a majority of Americans (54 percent) have researched jobs on the Internet, and nearly as many (45 percent) have applied for a job online (shrm.org).
